Back to Business

This time around I'm trying to take a different approach that's slightly more serious and realistic than before. I have heard plenty of nay sayers claim, "You'll be back."

Of course this is a popular reference made from the popular musical Hamilton, when King John was referring to the rebel troupes who broke away from the British and decided to renounce the status quo.

I have come to the realization that I am a writer and this is the profession that I aspire to do for a living. For now it is a struggle to justify that I am working extremely hard even if I am not bringing home a paycheck or working a traditional job.

Even though I am trying to take on a different direction to a sustainable life in the city, my favorite activity to do is the see a Broadway show. Before deciding on which show to see typically I go to the TKTS booth in Times Square to see which shows are not selling well for the day. I then use this information to go directly to the box office and get some real deals.

In my opinion, there is no reason for a person to pay full price for a ticket to a Broadway show. Many of the tactics for obtaining these cheap tickets have been learned through experience, however, the best place to go is playbill.com for a quick run down of the discounts that are available to the various shows.

Under the TICKETS option, there will be a drop down menu and for this resist the urge to go to Broadway Discounts (ok, you can do that if you want really accessible discounts that are mediocre at best, but better than nothing). For real discount hunters go to the Broadway Rush option. This will give you a run down of all of the times and lotteries that are available.

The home office that I've created for myself up in my aunt's attic, I'm sure that she didn’t appreciate me taking over her craft table.
